Over the last few months, one of our former high school students who has since graduated and started college, has been coming to our After School program more often. He attends our homework help period almost every day. He has also been working very hard to balance a job, taking care of his siblings, and attending school full time. I have had the pleasure of supporting him through this transition and it has been very rewarding to see him step up.

When I began working with him three years ago, he struggled to read and write at grade level. Since then, he has improved in both areas dramatically and entered college in English 101. While he has a long way to go before finishing school, his perseverance and willingness to challenge himself make me feel confident that he will succeed. It has been an honor to see him grow as a person and I look forward to seeing him continue to do so.
