Greetings to all!
I am taking this opportunity to announce my upcoming retirement. My last day of work for KYFS will be Friday, July 29, 2016. Between now and then, I will do my very best to make my personal goodbyes and say thank you to all of the children, families, colleagues, and friends I have come to know. After 17 years of work here in Kent, first for the Girl Scouts and then for KYFS, I have a lot of people to see and hug.
As for any questions about why I am retiring, this quote from Catherine Pulsifer says it best, “Retirement is a time to do what you want to do, when you want to do it, where you want to do it, and how you want to do it. Retirement may be an ending, a closing, but it is also a new beginning.”
Retirement does not mean I will be gone from the scene. I intend to join my husband by volunteering for human service programs of our choosing and, of course, KYFS is one such opportunity for our efforts.
To paraphrase Bernard Baruch, “It is my truth that age is only a number, a figure for the records. A [wo]man can’t retire [her] experience. [S]he must use it!” Consequently, I am retiring, but I definitely will not stop doing my best to help others.
Wishing each of you satisfaction and contentment in your services to other.
-Mrs. Gloria
