Our After School Program provides a variety of social services, recreational and educational programs for youth and their families living in three King County Housing Authority sites on the East Hill of Kent: Birch Creek Apartments, Valli Kee Homes, and Cascade Apartments.

After School and Summer Programming includes recreation and education activities and computer lab programs in each of the community recreation centers. Working with the Kent School District, a summer lunch program is offered to all kids under the age of 18 at all three of our sites. After School helps reduce juvenile crime by providing youth with helpful free-time alternatives with unconditional support of positive adult role models. Individual, family and group counseling is also available.

Our thanks to King County Housing Authority, Kent Police Department and King County Police Department for their support of this program.

Recreation and Education Activities

The After School Program provides activities for resident youth 5 – 19 years old. Youth enjoy arts and crafts, cooking classes, tournaments, intramural leagues, teen nights, field trips, focus groups, career exploration, homework assistance, and leadership groups.

Computer Labs

Computers are available for use by residents at all three recreation centers. Adult ESL students use the computers for language acquisition and word processing skills. Youth use the computers for research, homework, games and workshops with the guidance of the IT Manager. Other workshops have included building and maintenance of computers, networking, Microsoft Office classes, Internet usage, Web Page development, and typing.
