MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

Mental Health Counseling

Kent Youth & Family Services offers counseling to children, youth and families across Western Washington. Our youth and family mental health counseling program serves infant to 25-year-olds and their families. Through individual and family sessions, clients learn to better manage emotions, conflict, and mental health challenges. We strive to provide counseling that feels compassionate, supportive, and culturally responsive so each client and family can grow and reach their goals.

Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health

Parenting young children is a rewarding experience but can also be overwhelming and frustrating. For those moments, we are here to help. Our Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) Program is counseling specifically designed to support stronger parent-child relationships during the first five years of a child’s life that will benefit that child throughout their life.

Perinatal Counseling

The Perinatal Mental Health program serves parents trying to conceive, during pregnancy, and through the first few years after childbirth. Perinatal mental health pertains to both birthing and non-birthing parents, regardless of identity, focusing on an individual’s mental and emotional well-being during this period. This includes pre-existing conditions, as well as those that arise or intensify during the perinatal phase.

Support Groups

Our support groups allow youth and families to participate in weekly sessions featuring a wide range of topics including LGBTQ+ support, caregiving, and social anxiety to help participants connect with their peers and share resources.

Substance Use Disorder Counseling

Our youth-centered approach to treatment services creates a welcoming and supportive environment for clients and families struggling with substance use. By offering a judgement free treatment experience to clients and families, and a positive approach to recovery, we empower clients aged 11-24 with the skills necessary to avoid substance use, make thoughtful decisions, and achieve their goals.

Co-Occurring Disorders Counseling

For youth and families experiencing both mental health and substance use needs, we integrate the two into a co-occurring treatment. This allows for one counselor, who is dually credentialed, or two counselors (mental health & substance use) working closely together to provide mental health and substance use services together.
