Mental Health Counseling
Kent Youth & Family Services offers counseling to children, youth and families in South King County. Our youth and family mental health counseling program serves infant to 25 year olds and their families. Through individual and family sessions, clients learn healthier ways to manage emotions, conflict, and mental health challenges, allowing them to function better across environments. We strive to provide counseling that feels compassionate, supportive, and culturally responsive.
Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health
Parenting young children is a rewarding experience, but can also be overwhelming and frustrating. For those moments, we are here to help. Our Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) Program is counseling specifically designed to support stronger parent-child relationships.
Perinatal Counseling
The perinatal mental health program is for new, expecting, or hopeful parents who are experiencing challenges or distress related to bringing children into the world and adapting to parenthood. We provide support to parents of all identities. Together, we address symptoms of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders to help them connect with themselves again.
LGBTQ+ Peer Support
Outreach for Kent Area Youth (OKAY!) is an open support group for LGBTQ+ youth ages 13+ providing a community space where it’s OKAY to be you. Youth participate in weekly drop-in sessions with a wide range of social activities.
Substance Use Disorder Counseling
Our substance use disorder program provides assessments, early intervention groups, treatment groups, referral services, family support, parent coaching and aftercare to meet the needs of youth and families living in and around Kent. We serve ages 11–25 years old and their families.
Co-Occurring Disorders Counseling
For youth and families with both mental health and substance use disorders, we integrate the two into a co- occurring disorder treatment. This allows for one counselor, who is dually credentialed, or two counselors (MH & SUD) working closely together to provide mental health and substance use disorder services concurrently.
